Using Thermo Scientific ™ Oxoid ™ sodium chloride peptone buffer (dry powder) is used for microbiological limit testing of drugs according to USP/EP/BP/JP1,2,3, using a standardized method. Combining phosphate buffer solution, sodium chloride, and peptone to increase the activity of sensitive microorganisms by providing an isotonic environment. This is particularly important when attempting to recover stress cells or cells sensitive to osmotic pressure.
In the analysis of microbial contaminants in non sterile products, buffer sodium chloride peptone broth is used to dilute the sample.
